Mental Health Court

The Sixth Judicial Mental Health Court is a specialized, problem-solving court that diverts individuals with serious mental illnesses from the traditional criminal justice system into treatment and community support, aiming to reduce recidivism, improve quality of life, and enhance public safety through collaboration between the judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, and mental health professionals. 

Mental Health Court offers intensive supervision, drug and alcohol testing, personalized treatment plans (including therapy, medication, and case management), and regular court monitoring to address the root causes of offenses.

The Mental Health Court Program accepts participants that have tendered a plea of guilty, guilty but mentally ill or nolo contendere to, or is found guilty of a criminal offense and have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness by a healthcare professional. The Mental Health Court is a minimum of twelve months of programming.
