  • Navigating parenthood and navigating recovery can both be extremely challenging and overwhelming experiences. These experiences can be made even more challenging when you are also trying to navigate the child welfare, court, or criminal justice system. In Family Treatment Court, you will be immediately wrapped in services by a team of professionals who all want to help your family succeed. These services will help you learn and strengthen the skills necessary for your family to achieve your goals. Families who participate in Family Treatment Courts are more likely to enter treatment sooner and successfully complete treatment more often which promote healthy and safe family functioning.

  • There are no minimum or maximum time requirements for Family Treatment Court participation. Families progress through the program at their own pace.  Family Treatment Court recognizes that each family has unique strengths, needs, and goals. Therefore, each family will progress through the program at different rates. On average, it takes families anywhere between 6 to 12 months to complete programming.

  • Yes! Substance use disorders impact the entire family unit, including children, no matter how old they are. Your Family Treatment Court Team will work with you to determine what services may be beneficial to your entire family unit, including your children. These services may include, but are not limited to, mental health therapy, substance use counseling or prevention services, family counseling, medical or dental care, case management, etc.

  • All program applicants and participants have a right to privacy and all staff and team members must respect this right by complying with the Sixth Judicial District Specialty Courts' confidentiality policies. These policies require compliance with all state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. All information relating to applicants and/or participants is required to be held confidential and shall not be disclosed without written consent of the individual or a person legally authorized to represent that individual unless otherwise required by law. By law, Family Treatment Court is required to disclose information in the event of suspected abuse/neglect of a vulnerable individual or in the event that there is imminent danger posed to the individual or another party.
