Humboldt County Regional Landfill

The Humboldt County Regional Landfill is located on the north slope of Winnemucca Mountain, adjacent to US Highway 95, approximately 3.5 miles north-northwest of the City of Winnemucca in Humboldt County, Nevada. This facility is a Class I Municipal Waste area-fill disposal site that currently serves the residents of Winnemucca and surrounding unincorporated areas.

The Landfill accepts normal household and yard wastes from Humboldt County residents free of charge. Tires are acceptable but are assessed a disposal fee. Hazardous waste is only accepted in household quantities. Those residents outside of Humboldt County wanting to dispose of waste in this landfill must get prior approval from the Humboldt County Manager, please call Karen at 775-623-6300, to request approval.

The Landfill accepts commercial disposal of waste but will assess a fee for this service.

The Landfill will not accept liquid waste or hazardous waste in large quantities. For more information regarding non-acceptable items, hazardous and/or contaminated waste from within the County, please call Jolinda with the Regional Landfill Contractor, Delong Construction and Drilling at 775-623-2985.

The Humboldt County Regional Landfill will no longer be accepting any recyclable materials until further notice. Current market conditions nationwide and the lack of willing recyclers has left the landfill with no choice but to suspend recycling efforts at this time. The regional landfill hopes to resume collections at a future date when market conditions allow for delivery of the recycled products to an established facility. In the meantime, residents are asked to include recyclables in their regular trash bins.
